Again another beautiful novel written by Elaine May. So detailed and full of emotion we simply couldn’t put it down.
It was heartbreaking and sad.
It was heart-warming and full of love.
A story that shows us that we can all find our happily ever after.
A definite 4 star read.
This is the second book in the Truth Series written by Elaine May. Once again my warning is that this book is not for the faint of heart. It contains subject matter that is not for everyone, also this is a read for only readers over the age of 18.
Now with that warning out of the way, lets get to the book. After the cliff-hanger at the end of book one I just could not eait to start part two. I once again am blown away by Elaine May. She has this amazing talent for weaving a web that the reader just gets sucked into, and before you know it you have been up all night unable to put the book down. The pain and heart break that both Isla and Joshua go through seems so real it tears at your heart as you read it. Having to see the person you love so broken and beaten that you almost don't even recognize them, is something that no one should have to go through and sadly that is something that Isla and Joshua have to. Throughout the whole story as the reader, all I could do is pray they get their happy ending, because no one has ever earned more than they have.
Once again Mrs. May is an author that you must read to believe the talent she has. I have no idea how she comes up with her stories, but they are just amazing, true works of art! A must read!
This is the second book in the series and Lies and Truth needs to be read first.
Joshua Bryant knows that the doctor is not going to be bringing him good news. Yet the truth of the damage inflicted upon Isla by Jack and John was more than he ever thought possible. Now he wants to bring them both to justice but Jack has gone missing.
Will Joshua be able to help Isla heal or are her wounds to great? Will Joshua be able to put the past behind him or does he need to find a way to bring closure no matter what the risk is to himself?
This second book is great but definitely not for everyone. Isla was subjected to so much and when you learn about everything it is definitely horrific. She was dealt such a rough hand in life yet knew what she had to do to get through it all.
Joshua is such an amazing and hardworking character. He is so caring and protective and knew that Isla was not to blame for anything she went through and he really wanted to stay by her side. He knew he had a lot of work to do with the company in getting everything back under control and legal again.
He knew that a priority had to be finding Jack but would he take care of everything himself?? I loved what happened with that and of course Jacob!
Such an emotional story!
Pain and Truth was so emotional for me because it hit really close to home, Isla's struggle with cancer, her recovery from the attack, her emotional recovery, but throughout everything Joshua's unwavering support and love was always there he never left her side he stuck with her through everything no matter what. I really found this book hard to stick with at times not because it was hard to read or badly written but simply because it was so incredibly emotional. Please keep in mind the subject matter in this book is serious and some of it incredibly dark we are talking sexual assault, abuse, cancer, among other things. This is a great book to read just be sure to have a box of tissue with you because you will be crying as it will bring out all kinds of emotions! I love that Elaine May writes in such a way that you feel the connection to the characters in her books and you feel as if you are there with them going through their trials and tribulations with them. I also love the ending for this book I am so glad that Joshua and Isla got their Happily Ever After they both deserved that and so much more!
A Wonderful book to read. I cried and felt for Isla and Joshie as they reconnected and learned to love again. Jack and John should burn in the depths of shell for just thinking of the horrible things they inflicted on Islam.
I couldn't finish this book. It repeated itself several times and I got almost halfway through it when I decided I couldn't take it anymore. I got bored and I liked it less than the first.
Joshua and Isla quickly became one of my favorite couples. Their story broke my heart, brought me to tears, and made my heart smile. Definitely a must read as far as I'm concerned.
